2006 Haynes International Flute Competition
Finalists
Alan Weiss, Artistic Director
As we approach this exciting new international competition June 3rd,
2006, here is a brief update to bring awareness of to the flute community
at large about the contestants. A daunting and inspiring task…the
preliminary judges Christopher McKenna, Paula Robison, and Alan Weiss
have selected five finalists from 78 applications received from over
20 countries. Below you will find an introduction and brief biography
to the competition finalists. Conor
Nelson studied with Carol Wincenc, Ransom Wilson and Linda
Chesis and received degrees from Yale and the Manhattan School of
Music. A native of Canada, he is currently a doctoral candidate at
Stony Brook University. |

Nicholas
Hero studied with Charles Dagnino, Michel Moragues and
Alain Marion and received degrees from Metz Conservatory and Strasbourg
University. A native of France, he is currently a performer and
teacher in Paris.

Sooyun
Kim studied with Paula Robison and Renee Krimsier and received
her Bachelor degree from the New England Conservatory of Music,
in Boston MA. A native of South Korea, she is currently enrolled
in the Master of Music program at the New England Conservatory.

Inna
Gilmore studied with Loren Lind, Sheryl Cohen and Alexander
Korneyev and received degrees from the University of Alabama and
the Moscow Conservatory. A native of Russia, Inna currently lives
in New Jersey.

Heather
Holden studied with Linda Chesis and Alan Weiss and received
degrees from the Manhattan School of Music and Boston University.
A native of New York, Heather is a member of the award winning flute
and guitar Arc Duo as well as the Artist in Residence at the Diller-Quaile
School of Music in New York City.

The finals will be adjudicated by:
Jeanne Baxtresser, Michel Debost, Guoliang Han, Paula Robinson
and the pianist for the competition will be Deborah DeWitt Emery.
The finals will take place on June 3, 2006 11AM, First & Second
Street Church, 66 Marlborough Street, Boston, MA. The Haynes International
Flute Competition is FREE and open to the public.
The competition results will be posted immediately afterwards in
another press release.
