LOS ANGELES FLUTE QUARTET PRESS

The Los Angeles Flute Quartet officially would like to announce
its newest member – Ms. Kirsten Larsen Joel. “Kiki”
Joel is a former flutist with the Louisiana Philharmonic where she
served nine seasons in the New Orleans based orchestra.
Originally from California, she studied at the Eastman School of
Music and later received her MA at the San Francisco Conservatory.
She currently resides in Pasadena adjacent to the city of Los Angeles
and in addition to her new work with LA Flute Quartet members, Eileen
Holt, Lisa-Marie Amos, and Peter Sheridan, she is active as a freelance
musician and teacher.

On October 14, 2006, at 7:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Flute Quartet
will feature an eclectic program titled “LAFQ Unzipped”.
This fall concert at the Zipper Recital Hall at the Colburn School
will feature the Los Angeles premier of Jeffrey Miller’s Up
in the Air. Other selected quartets will include classical
radio KUSC’s Charles Andrews’ transcription of Quartet
K464 by W.A. Mozart, Eugene Bozza’s Jour Sur La Montagne,
Bernstein’s West Side Story Medley by Mark Latham,
Laissez le Voler by flutist Sheridon Stokes, and an original
arrangement of Joaquin Turina’s La Oracion del Torero
(The Bullfighter’s Prayer) by quartet flutist Lisa-Marie Amos.
