On August 14, 2005 – Verne Q. Powell Flutes announced its lineup of new products. These new products highlight the quality, collaboration and innovation standards that Powell Flutes, Inc. has set throughout its history.

These products were displayed at the 33rd National Flute Association Convention in San Diego, CA.

• HANDMADE CUSTOM 14Karat WHITE GOLD FLUTES
White gold has a lustrous silvery look with yellow overtones. Pair it with a Rose Gold mechanism for a beautiful contrast, or use a Sterling Silver mechanism for more subtle effects. These flutes have a power and beauty that is unique to the white gold flute. The white gold portion of the flute comprises the body tubing, head-joint, head-joint barrel, and foot-joint box. For a limited time only these white gold flutes will be available at the same price as rose gold.

• HANDMADE CUSTOM FLUTES with DRAWN TONE HOLES
Powell Custom flutes are highly regarded for having soldered tone holes with beautiful, super-strong brazed joints. Now, for the first time, we are using our advanced tone hole extrusion tooling to offer Handmade Custom flutes with drawn tone holes. The result is a flute with superb drawn tone holes that offers outstanding durability and excellent value.

• SOLOIST STYLE HEAD-JOINT
For several years, Powell has worked closely with internationally acclaimed flutist, Ransom Wilson. During the past year we have refined a special head-joint style that is particularly well suited to Mr. Wilson’s playing style. The Soloist style head-joint creates a strong sound that allows the player to fill a hall, or perform the quietest of passages, easily and with complete command. The embouchure plate, which is similar to the Boston style head-joint, provides the player with quick, responsive articulation while a new style of undercutting gives the head-joint a strong, full color. This head-joint, officially introduced during the Spring of 2005, is now available.
